My Present

My favorite Thai place is on Carmine but I can never remember its name. When I get frozen yogurt with my friends I only get fruit because I don't like frozen yogurt. My taxi rule is to walk toward where I'm going until I find one instead of waiting; it saves some time and money. Whenever I can walk through a park instead of a street I do. S'mac is great and the best time to go to Times Square is at 4:00 a.m. while waiting in line for Saturday Night Live tickets. Early mornings are quieter than expected and sirens always punctuate the sound scene.

New York City is my home base, Washington Square Park and its surrounding blocks in particular. I'm a junior at New York University. I'm majoring in journalism and European studies (focusing on Ireland and France). All of my classes are within those disciplines because I have few available credits. If I could I would take more courses on religion, the Middle East, history, science (especially biology and ecology). I'm currently taking Irish Language Literature in Translation, The Supreme Court and the Religion Clauses, Entrepreneurial Journalism and an Honors Undergraduate Research Seminar in European Studies.

Beyond courses, I am also involved in several student organizations. I am the NYU Inter-Greek President and a member of Delta Phi fraternity. I am the Newman Catholic Fellowship President and have led a Jesuit retreat called Kairos. I am a site-leader for Alternative Breaks. Two years ago I went to Oak Ridge, Tennessee with Habitat for Humanity and last year I went to Tampa Bay, Florida to work at Bay Crest Elementary School. I am a Resident Assistant at Goddard Hall. I am also a counselor at Badger Boys State, though that's not related to NYU whatsoever.

Though my NYC experience has been defined by my NYU experience, I have my favorite parts of the city. I am a runner and I enjoy biking; I use my bike to commute in the city. Through these I have fallen in love with the West Side Highway, the entire thing from Battery Park City to the George Washington Bridge. I call the entire thing Hudson River Park even though I know that's wrong. My favorite parts are the Battery Park City chain of parks and then Riverside Park too.
